It was damaged during an exhibition called ‘The World as Non-Objectivity. The painting, called ‘Three Figures’ (1932-1934) from the Tretyakov Gallery collection, is currently being worked on by experts in a bid to restore it to its former glory. The employee, who has not been named, but who is said to be 60 years old, has reportedly already been fired. The incident reportedly took place on 7th December 2021, when the bored security guard on his first day on the job allegedly drew eyes with a ballpoint pen on the faces of two of the three figures depicted in the painting, but the identity of the suspect has only been reported now. A vandal added eyes to non-objective figures in Anna Leporskaya’s painting at an exhibition at the Yeltsin Center in Yekaterinburg, Russia in December 2021. The painting was allegedly defaced by a security guard from a private security company. ![]() The painting, which was created by Anna Leporskaya, a student of Russian avant-garde artist Kazimir Malevich, was defaced at the Yeltsin Centre, which is located in the city of Yekaterinburg in the Sverdlovsk Oblast region in west-central Russia. Besides the Tretyakov, her work is held in the Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied, and Folk Arts in Moscow and the State Russian Museum in Saint Petersburg.A valuable modern art painting has been destroyed after a bored security guard on his first day of work drew eyes on the faceless figures depicted in it. Best known for her work in porcelain, she created alongside other notable avant-garde artists Nikolai Suetin and Lev Yudin. Leporskaya, who died in 1982, was a student of the famous Russian Suprematist Kazimir Malevich. Protective screens have since been installed by the centre on all remaining works in the exhibition. The painting has now been returned to the State Tretyakov. It will be paid by the private insurers AlfaStrakhovanie, which provided the initial valuation of the work. The Tretyakov estimates restoration costs at RUB 250,000 (£2,500), a fraction of the insurance cost. "The ink has slightly penetrated into the paint layer, since the titanium white used to paint the faces is not covered with varnish," but the marks were "made lightly", wrote Ivan Petrov in his inital report for TAN Russia. However, damage to the work is easily reversible. He faces a fine of up to RUB 74.9m (£738,000)-the amount the painting was insured for-and up to one year of correctional labour or up to three months in prison, according to The Times. The guard has been fired and was last week detained by police on criminal vandalism charges. “His motives are still unknown but the administration believes it was some kind of a lapse in sanity,” she said. ![]() The exhibition's curator, Anna Reshetkina, said the painting was damaged by a 60-year-old guard “with a Yeltsin Centre-branded pen” and that he did so on his first day at work. ![]() This week, following a police investigation, it has emerged that the vandal was a security guard employed by a private company, the Yeltsin Centre's executive director Alexander Drozdov confirmed in a statement. Shaders apply an overlay to your screen that can mimic scanlines, colorization, or other effects that will recreate CRT monitors, chunky LCD grid displays, and more. If you have certain preferences for your scaling (perfect pixel accuracy, or stretching out the image to take up the full screen), RA should have what you need. With RetroArch, you can adjust the game image to match your device’s dimensions and resolution, or even apply bezel overlays to customize the layout of your screen. With this method, you only have to remember hotkeys for one platform instead of different key mapping options across various emulators. You can also set up hotkeys for things like save states, loading save states, bringing up the RA menu, fast forward, etc. You can set your buttons for any RA core, and also save per-game settings and button remaps for the best experience. Here is a full core list so you can get an idea of all the emulation options within. You can find RetroArch on many systems, and it can also emulate a ton of systems too. For example, with RetroArch, you can unlock the following features: RetroArch features (click to enlarge) The answer is that RetroArch contains a lot of universal features that are not implemented in many of the other emulators. So you might be asking yourself, why should I bother with RetroArch, if I already have standalone emulator options that will play my games? That’s a fair question. Depending on the version of RetroArch you are using, you can pick and choose which cores to load, to be able to customize your experience, or the RetroArch build may come pre-loaded with all working cores. So in this guide I will use the words “emulators” and “cores” interchangeably. RetroArch consists of what they call “ cores“, which function as emulators embedded in the program. ![]() I have a habit of pronouncing it the latter way, which is what you’ll hear in my videos. Note that technically, “RetroArch” should be pronounced like “RetroARTCH” versus “RetroARK”, because it was first based on Arch Linux, but both pronunciations are considered acceptable. The frontend for RetroArch is often referred to as the “libretro frontend”. It can run on the usual platforms like Windows, MacOS and Linux, but it also runs on iOS and Android for tablets and phones, as well as on game consoles like PS2, PS3, PSP, PS Vita, Wii, Wii U, 2DS, 3DS, Switch, and more. RetroArch is a frontend for emulators, game engines and media players. However, if you are using a system that relies primarily on RetroArch for emulation (like Xbox), or you have a beefy PC that can run well regardless of optimizations, you may find success in emulating higher-end systems in RetroArch, too. For more modern consoles, it is often more efficient to rely on standalone emulators, which are generally more optimized than RetroArch. RetroArch really shines on retro systems, particularly PlayStation 1 and below games. The video will primarily be done on Windows PC, but the same method will apply to MacOS, Linux, Android, iOS, Vita, and Xbox platforms, and more. ![]() This guide is meant to help you get set up with various RetroArch iterations. In this guide I’m going to demystify some of the more peculiar things about this emulation frontend, and show you how I set up RetroArch on my own gaming platforms. But it does have quite a steep learning curve. RetroArch is one of my favorite programs to use for retro game emulation, because it can emulate many systems. ![]() Last updated: 28FEB2022 (see Changelog for details) Invoice the right way with FreshBooks, and you can get paid faster, starting today. It seems to hold the hopeful message that through gratitude and cultivation, love is ever-present. The song emotionally builds to an intense crescendo, but it ends in a peaceful feeling reminiscent of the first nocturne. It is a bittersweet reminder to love those we hold dear because “the time will come” when we may no longer have them. 3.” This final piece speaks of a love that transcends the “death” of the previous poem. Uhland hints that this “love” may allow a viewer to be “awakened” or even to glimpse “heaven,” and yet, like all of our experiences in the flesh, it is not meant to last.įerdinand Freiligrath’s poem “O Lieb, so Lang du Lieben Kannst,” or “O Love, as Long as You Can,” is the basis for Lizst’s third and final nocturne of the series, “Liebestraum No. Published 1853 by Haslinger (Vienna) Arranged for orchestra by Liszt and Franz Doppler, 185760, as Hungarian Rhapsody No.3 in D major ( S. It is dedicated to pianist and composer Henry Litolff. Composed for solo piano, 1847 ( S.244/6), using themes from Nos.4, 5 and 11 of Magyar dalok, S.242, and from No.20 of Magyar rapszdik, S.242. The piece flares up dramatically, eventually coming to an abrupt and somewhat dismal end. in Bayreuth, Bavaria (Germany) COMPOSED: Begun around 1830, reworked through that decade, and composed into its eventual form mostly from the late 1840s through 1853, and revised in 1855-56. The piece is about humanity’s experience of love born out of fleeting physical intimacy. 2” is based on Uhland’s poem “Seliger Tod” or “Blessed Death.” Liszt’s second nocturne in the series intentionally exists in stark contrast to the first. Pensive notes are held at length while layered arpeggios and rapidly ascending notes allude to the “heavens above” that “have parted.” The first nocturne in “Dreams of Love,” “Liebestraum No.1,” is based on Johann Ludwig Uhland’s poem titled “Hohe Liebe” or “Exalted Love.” The poem is about spiritual exaltation in which a person “gladly disowns” the “joys of Earth” in favor of the “golden beyond.” Of the three pieces, this nocturne is the most peaceful and restrained. Like German “lieder” of the Romantic era, they were songs that could be combined with poetry or performed as solo piano pieces. In his later years as an adolescent, he studied as well. When he was just a child, Franz started playing for the public. ![]() Liszt was born on October 22 nd, 1811 in the village of Doborjan which, was near Hungary. Liszt’s three-part “Liebestraum,” meaning “Dreams of Love,” is a series of three nocturnes that represent different types of love as expressed by three associated poems. Franz Liszt was a Hungarian composer of piano pieces and tone poems during the romantic period. The death of his friend and fellow composer Frederic Chopin inspired Liszt to briefly create works in genres that Chopin made famous, such as the nocturne. |
